What I wear as a personal trainer
Honestly, you could probably guess what I wear to work as a personal trainer, but I still though it would be cute to do a little blog post about it. There are a few useful snippets in here for any girlie who has to stand on her feet a lot (hello shoes). But I also love giving & getting recommendations for cute gym clothes at any point in time so here are my favorite items to wear!
The Fit
So obviously I wear a T-shirt or some type of branded top to work. I currently work at Inertia Fitness Co. which is a private personal training studio in Charlotte, NC. Come say hi if you’re ever in the area!! But typically I’m wearing one of our T-shirts or a hoodie.
Sports bras: I used to wear bras from Aerie that were not technically real bras but also not a sports bra. Since then I have switched to wearing sports bras to work. I typically wear my Gym Shark Everyday Sports Bra because it is low-compression & just enough to support my itty bitties. I love that this bra is comfortable but still more supportive than a bralette from Aerie. You can probably find cheaper ones at Marshalls or TJ Maxx but tbh, the ones I always see tend to cut into my skin a little too much.
Bottoms: I wear either leggings or shorts to work most days (duh). Since it is the middle of Summer in NC, it gets pretty darn hot. Right now I am rocking either Nike Running Shorts, these Lululemon dupes from Amazon, or a lightweight legging from Aerie. I don’t typically wear Aerie leggings because they are pretty thin & don’t hold up well in gym settings but sometimes I just want to wear leggings & don’t want to be super hot! I’ll also occasionally wear their pocket biker shorts or the Arola shorts from Amazon. During the winter, I’ll wear my Lululemon Wunder Train Pocket Leggings or the Aerie Hugger Leggings because they tend to be on the thicker side.
Socks & Shoes: For socks, I wear sketcher socks that I find in TJ Maxx or Marshalls. During the winter, I’ll wear Nike Crew Socks to cover my ankles & keep them warm & toasty. For shoes, I have tried a few different brands including Asics, Hoka, & Brooks. My favorite by far for standing for long periods are my Brooks Ghost Max 2 shoes. These just provide a level of cushion that I haven’t gotten from any other shoe. I also tend to pronate when standing or walking which causes my feet to hurt pretty quickly. These Brooks seem to prevent my feet from hurting for the longest out of all of them!
So that is what I wear to work! I’ll throw my hair up in a claw clip or braid in if I have extra time in the morning, but other than that it is pretty simple & straight-forward. I hope you got some good recommendations from this post! Send me what you wear to work on TikTok, Insta, or Pinterest @trainwithtorik or send me an email at trainwithtorik@gmail.com. Like I said, I love getting gym clothes recommendations! Let me know if you want to see what I wear to the gym next!
