My top 5 nail designs

Today I am coming at you with a super fun post! These are my favorite nail designs that I have ever gotten! Some of them are a bit basic, some are super elaborate, but all of them are really cute! I love getting nail inspo from my favorite creators or from Pinterest so I thought I’d share a few of my favs. I hope these inspire you for your next trip to the salon!

#5: A touch of holiday spirit

Coming in at number 5 were my 2021 Christmas Nails! At first glance, they might not look the most Christmas-y, but let me explain the vision. I love a colorful ornament on a Christmas tree — especially the shiny pink ones. I got these pink & gold nails to honor one of my favorite ornament colors (pink) while adding in a classic holiday color (gold). To make them actually holiday nails, I got them in chrome. The chrome is what really gave these nails a the touch of holiday spirit. Even if you don’t see it, I do and I think they are a great idea if you want holiday nails but you don’t want it to look like Santa threw up on your finger tips.

#4: Subtly Fall

These nails were one of my fall-themed nails a few years ago. Brown is one of those often overlooked fall colors. I love a brown during the fall because it feels festive, but it isn’t an in-your-face fall color. A brown color for fall can be professional but still make you feel like you’re participating in the seasonal spirit. Sometimes, an orange or red, or even purple just doesn’t hit right. It is hard to choose the perfect shade of orange or red that says “fall” and not “Christmas” or “Republican” (jk, jk). Choosing a brown on your nails can make you feel sophisticated while not taking a big leap of faith when choosing the perfect shade of orange or red to match your fall spirit.

#3: Spooky & Sparkly

These are a very niche nail, but OMG were these so fun! I got these nails my freshman year of college when I finally found a nail salon that could do fun designs! Should I have been spending $90+ on cool nail designs? Probably not. Did I still do it? Of course!!

These nails were so cool, unique, and they had so many different pieces to them, but they still looked amazing! I apologize for the blurry pic, it was the best on I could find, but you get the point. For these nails, we combined a classic sparkly black nail, with a sparkly black french tip, and a fun blood drip on the middle finger. They were so cool because they used the one of the classic Halloween colors (black) but added some fun sparkles to dress them up & then added in a splash of color with the red blood drip. I honestly want to get these done again this year!

#2: Hearts & Heat

One of my top favorite nails were these red-hot nails with a little bit of love sprinkles in! These were my Valentine’s Day nails in 2023! Another fun fact, these were the last acrylic nails that I ever got! After these nails, I had enough of the acrylics & started getting dip/SNS instead (super happy I started doing this btw). Nonetheless, these nails were really cute & fun! Once again, these weren’t in-your-face with love & Valentine’s spirit. They were festive and had a few hearts on the ring finger to emphasize the Valentine’s Day theme but they weren’t over the top. I liked these because a red nail is always a good classic, but they had the hearts to make it more interesting. I would definitley get something like this again!

#1: French Tip classic

Coming in at number one… another french tip nail — they are just so gorgeous! I feel as though you can never really go wrong with a french tip nail. They can be short, long, neutral, colorful, almond, square — pretty much anything & still look good. One of my favorite ways to dress up a french tip style nail is by doing it in a fun color. The french tip makes the nail look classic & sophisticated, while the color makes it more playful & unique! This red french tip might just be one of my favorite nails ever. It can be worn basically any time of the year, or it can be used for a multitude of holidays — Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day, Fourth of July, am I missing any?

I hope you enjoyed this light-hearted blog post and you got some fun inspiration for your next nail makeover! A lot of my favorites were holiday themed considering most of the time, I just get a solid color & call it a day. I am also that person who LOVES the holidays so I like to make the most of them. There were a few that you could take & put your own spin on it so they are less holiday themed & more of an every day or year-round kind of nail. As always, I’d love to hear your thoughts! I also love getting new nail inspo so send me your favorite nail designs on TikTok, Instagram, or Pinterest @trainwithtorik or email me at trainwithtorik@gmail.com. See you next time!
